How accurate are the projections?
The minutes model gets starters right 94% of the time (AUC 0.9417 — random guessing scores 0.50). Point projections have an MAE of 0.971, beating FPL's own xP on every error metric, tested out-of-sample on 2023-24.
Where does the data come from?
Fixture data, player form, xG/xA, and ICT index from the official FPL API. The model was trained on the FPL archive (2018–2023) and tested out-of-sample on 2023-24 — no hindsight.
Does it work for building a new squad?
